I am lifting or pushing more than my body weight! Not bad for an "old" guy! I never could have done it without Ashley's help.

I’m 58 years old and have always been an “active” person. I would run fairly regularly and go to the gym occasionally, but I had no real program. My diet, on the other hand, was…how should I put it…bad. Not that I ate ice cream and cookies all day, but I really didn’t monitor what I was taking into my body at all. I always figured that if I was active enough, it didn’t matter much what I ate.

Over the years, I have observed men at work who are at the age that I am now. Some of them were limited by layers of health problems, which restricted their ability to enjoy life. Others were healthy, able to be much more active, and did not seem to be restricted in doing whatever they wanted to do. I very much wanted to be a part of the latter group. Common to the healthier group was the fact that they kept their weight down and exercised regularly. The opposite was typically common among the less healthy men.

As I said before, I’ve always been active, but as I grew a little older, my lack of eating and exercise discipline caught up to me. I first noticed it in a picture, taken when I was turned sideways to the camera. I literally thought…..”holy crap, where did that gut come from?”

I decided to get serious about my fitness and started training with Ashley. She set me up with a great exercise plan which works different parts of my body, rotating workouts so that it keeps my sessions interesting, and most importantly, helps
protect me from injury. Probably the most beneficial in my case was that she set me up with macronutrient targets and sample meal plans for how to hit those targets. Following her guidance, I was able to shed 20 pounds and drop several inches off my belly and never went hungry. I just had to monitor how much and what I was eating. For instance, I learned that I wasn’t getting nearly enough protein, and taking in too many carbs and fats previously (no, it’s not Keto or Atkins, just eating a healthy, balanced diet). Once I reached my target weight, she adjusted my target macros to a maintenance level so that I don’t put the weight back on. Ashley has been fantastic throughout the process! She is very encouraging and helpful, and helps me monitor my form to help me avoid injury.

Now I feel great and am stronger than I’ve been in many years! When I run into someone I haven’t seen recently, the first thing they mention is how good I look! Even more important to me is how good I feel. A breakthrough for me was when I realized that, on some of my exercises, I am lifting or pushing more than my body weight! Not bad for an “old” guy! I never could have done it without Ashley’s help.”
