Barb Marcum’s Story -
“With Ashley as my coach, I've been able to drop 45 pounds, going from a size 14 to a size 4. In fact, just last week I purchased a pair of size 4 pants from White House Black Market. I also have muscle mass. I'm proudly wear sleeveless shirts, no longer covering up my old lady floppy arms. In addition, I've developed good eating habits that includes lots of water. I have softer skin. I commonly had dry cracked hands during the cold winter months, but last winter a rarely used hand lotion. Ashley is also addressing my IBS (intestinal bowel syndrome). It has greatly improved.
Like any good program, Ashley's is a life style change with good eating and exercising habits. She also addresses mental health, controlling stress and getting plenty of sleep. Ashley educated me about protein, carbohydrates, fats and water intake. She also developed an exercise regimen that I can maintain for years to come. This includes walking and weight lifting. I admit is was a daunting at first to be the oldest woman in the weight room. But I now workout with confidence and pride because I'm the oldest woman in the weight room. Ashley addresses good habits to control stress and sleep as well.
One of the most important areas she is addressing is my IBS. My family doctor and gastroenterologist both prescribed medication to alleviate the symptoms but these medications did not address the underlying cause.
Because of Ashley’s education, I learned that IBS wasn’t an actual diagnosis. We got a Gut Map Test done and it showed I had a bacterial imbalance called SIBO, which was the cause of all my discomfort.
Through a 15 week program, Ashley is addressing the underlying cause of an unhealthy gut. Currently, I've gone from 10-15 lose stools a day to 2-3 reasonable bowel movement. Even though I haven't completed the program I am already experience great freedom from SIBO.
Because of Ashley's program, the trajectory of my life has changed. As I enter my 60's, I can now plan for an active retirement. In my elderly years I hope to live independently in my own home for as long as possible. With Ashley's guidance, I'm optimistic that I'll achieve this goal. Because of Ashley's program, I look forward to years of enjoying the outdoors with gardening, hiking, biking riding and a little back packing with my husband. This would have been laborious at my previous size 14 and 175 pounds. That's a lot of weight to carry around on the trail at only 5'5" tall. Even a stranger at the grocery store mentioned that I obviously lift weights in the gym. What a compliment. I currently enjoy being active outside along with some heavy home remodeling with my spouse that includes drywalling, painting and installing interior doors. I do all that at age 61 with no residual pain from all the construction work I help with. Thanks to Ashley for changing the trajectory of my life.”

I came to Ashley after years of lifting weights – always had the goal of losing losing losing. I lost the weight I wanted, then wanted more muscle. But, how can I get more muscle without eating more? I was scared to eat more. I went to the gym 7 days a week, no break. Was on my feet for 20k steps a day. Of course I couldn’t gain anything. And, even worse, I don’t eat meat.
